The Grounded
Space

Somewhere to put it down for fifty to sixty minutes.

I'm Antara Bezbarua, a counselling psychologist in Guwahati. I work online with people across India, and in person with people nearby — at whatever pace you can manage.

A quiet room with a green armchair, a plant and warm afternoon light

Most people who write to me have been managing on their own for a long time before they do.

You don't need the right words, a diagnosis, or a reason big enough to justify it. If something has been sitting heavy, that's reason enough. Mental health matters as much as physical health — and deserves the same timely care.

My sessions are unhurried and confidential — a space to be vulnerable, and to be yourself. I'm not going to tell you what you should be feeling, and nothing gets pushed before you're ready for it.

Any of this sound familiar?

Are you the one everyone leans on, with nowhere to put your own weight down?

Does rest feel like something you have to earn first?

Do you rewrite conversations in your head at two in the morning?

Have you been fine for so long you have lost track of what you actually feel?

Do you apologise for taking up space?

Is something from years ago still quietly running things?

Are you doing everything right and still feeling hollow?

Are you waiting for a bigger reason before you ask for help?

If one of those landed a bit close — that's the sort of thing we'd work on together.

You can bring it half-formed. Working out what it actually is, is part of the work.

Antara Bezbarua

Chief Counselling Psychologist · She / Her · Guwahati, Assam

I studied Psychology at Handique Girls' College in Guwahati, then completed my Master's in Counselling Psychology at Jain University, Bangalore. Five years of practice on, a good part of my work is still just this: listening to people who have never said any of it out loud before.

I started The Grounded Space because that kind of listening is harder to find than it should be. I'm a trained practitioner in CBT, DBT, SFBT and REBT, and I also work with art therapy and mindfulness — brought in collaboratively, as they suit you. My approach is client-centred, eclectic and trauma-informed, which in practice means I follow what you bring rather than a script.

What sessions look like

Individual counselling

Weekly one-to-one sessions, shaped around what you are actually dealing with rather than a fixed programme.

Anxiety and stress

We look at what sets it off, and build something steadier for you to stand on.

Self-worth

For the long habit of putting yourself last — and what it takes to unlearn it.

Change and transitions

Moves, endings, new cities, new roles — the ones that look fine from outside and do not feel it.

Often, people come about

And often it turns out to be something else underneath. If what you're carrying isn't on this list, write in anyway.

self-esteem· anxiety· burnout· depression· stress· anger· emotional dysregulation· relationship concerns· life transitions
How it works

Three steps, and you can stop after any of them.

01

Write in

Use the form below and say as little as you like. It comes straight to me, nobody else.

Two minutes
02

A free first call

Twenty minutes to talk it through and see whether I feel like the right person for you. Plenty of people stop here, and that is completely fine.

First session

A short intake form comes first, then we begin — online on Google Meet, or in person in Guwahati. Weekly, usually, and you can change your mind later.

50–60 minutes, weekly

How I work

Mostly by listening properly, which is rarer than it sounds. Alongside that, evidence-based work — CBT, DBT, SFBT, art therapy, mindfulness — brought in collaboratively, when it's useful rather than by default.

Two things hold my room up: trust and honesty. Everything else is built on them. You set the pace, and if something isn't ready to be talked about yet, that's information too, not a failure.

You are enough. You matter. You belong here.

A few questions

The practical things, answered plainly.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are ₹800 for 50–60 minutes, usually once a week. The first call is free and lasts about 20 minutes. Getting in touch commits you to nothing.

Are sessions online or in person?

Both. Online sessions are on Google Meet, from anywhere in India. In-person sessions are in Guwahati. You can say which you prefer when you write in.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. What you say stays between you and me, held to professional ethical practice. Nothing here is shared with anyone, except where the law requires it — for example if someone is in immediate danger.

What is the first session like?

First there is a free 20-minute call to see whether working together feels right. If you continue, a short intake form comes before the first 50–60 minute session, so you don't have to start from the very beginning out loud.

What if I need to cancel?

Please let me know at least 24 hours ahead so the slot can go to someone else who needs it. No explanation required.

Who do you work with, and in which languages?

I work with teens and adults, ages 13 to 40, individually. If you are under 18, a parent's consent is needed. Sessions can be in English, Assamese or Hindi.

Write to me

I read every message myself and usually reply within a day with a few times for a free intro call. Getting in touch commits you to nothing.

Not a crisis service — see the note below.

Before we begin

A few things, so nothing comes as a surprise.

An intake form first

Before your first session I'll send a short form. It is not a test — it simply means I arrive already knowing a little, so you don't have to start from the very beginning out loud.

Your consent, always

Nothing starts until you've said yes to it, and you're free to change your mind at any point. Consent here is ongoing, not a signature collected once.

If you need to cancel

Life happens — just let me know at least 24 hours ahead and the slot can go to someone else who needs it. No explanation required.
